Pampering & Provence

It's coming to an end, so do whatever takes your fancy..............

Well, I do have to say we were spoilt for choice during our week at Mas la Monaque.  There were so many great ways to spend out last few days in sunny Provence.  We were blessed with great weather towards the end of the week, and it was a real challenge to drag ourselves away from the Mas and our afternoon pool time.

After a busy week, Cliff and Joyce decided to spend Friday relaxing at the Mas, enjoying the surrounds and a lovely garden lunch for two.

Geoff, Coralie, Dan, Marcia and Hunter hit the road to Aix en Provence (no pics available, I will have to pinch Coralie's camera and update the blog). It's an amazing city, full of history, but they made time for an afternoon stop in the local village of Maussane les Alpilles.  Only a few minutes drive down the road, it has a fantastic city square, some market artwork by local painters, and

Jon and I enjoyed a pampering morning at the fantabulous Spa Baumaniere, just down the road from Les Baux de Provence  This was a long promised and belated birthday present to Jon from me, but he assures me it was worth the wait.  Interestingly the french are a little more liberal when it comes to privacy during a massage.  They very kindly provided us both with a tissue paper g-string to wear - yeh, right, it may have fit over my head, but definitely not over my butt!!!  I can assure you, it stayed exactly where it belonged - in the bathroom locker!!  We then made our way to the spa and steam room where we lounged around for another lazy hour - seriously, we were luvin' ourselves sick.

Wandering the gardens afterwards, we came across a petite little lunch location that had our names written all over it, La Cabro D'Or (with amazing consistency, we manage to find ourselves at extremely gorgeous but bargin priced locations, honest, really, truly!!!).  Pampering continued with a very classy tomato and marscapone amuse bouche, and post lunch petit fours to die for.  Yep, once again, I seem to have able to make this about food........ ahhhhh it's an acquired talent.

It was then back to the villa for some last minute pool time and final dinner together at Mas la Monaque.

On a farewell note, Dad was declared the pround recipient of the Il Melone Wine award (a tradition which started in Tuscany in 2007 - the honourable task of finding the cheapest drinkable red wine)!!!  A fine winning effort in Provence in 2012 with a very handy red at $Euro 2.94 - yep, we would be millonaires if we could buy wine this cheap but this good back in Australia.
